We already own a Fire 7 (5th gen) and an iPad mini (2nd gen). Surprisingly enough, this Fire HD 8 was bought to replace the iPad. My kids prefer the Fire, and they fight over who gets to play it. The reason is simple: the iPad requires games to be bought individually from the App Store, and since popular games like the Toca Life series are £4 each, I have to limit the number of games they’re allowed.

In contrast, the Fire for Kids app allows them to browse and download anything they want, from a curated, age-appropriate selection, of games, video, books and Audible audiobooks. They like the fact that they can download without asking for permission. We were looking for a tablet for our little one, was gonna go for the 2018 edition but when we found out a 2020 edition was on the way, pre-ordered without thinking…

It came on time like it said but we noticed a little problem, we bought this knowing we wanted to add Disney+ for our little ones profile but it just didn’t work for some reason…

I swear from those two sessions, we spoke to at least a dozen of Amazon Assistants…

All in all, the tablet is fine, just about does the job for our…

We were hugely pleased when our order was upgraded for free to the new model. It worked fine for a couple of days then problems started. I could not share content with my child profile, content that was shared previously somehow disappeared. I spent nearly two hours with five different customer service agents with no resolution to my problem. I was told that I can have it replaced with a refurbished model – why choose that after three days of using a brand new model?! Apps downloaded and advertised as free actually needed log in details / an account created. Very disappointed that so early on we encountered technical issues with zero resolution from customer service!
    Update on this review:
Customer service got back in touch via an email address that does not receive replies. However, I…
